Despite entering their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Dominance Asserted from the Outset
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
