Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'New Era' for The Big Apple in Maiden Address
On his first day in office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reimagine” New York City, ushering in “a different age” and an audacious beginning to his administration.
An Unprecedented Leader
The young democratic socialist, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first mayor born in Africa. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Islamic holy text.
